Navigating Personalities: A Facilitator’s Insight into Personality Dimensions at the 2023 KSBL Pakistan Graduate Orientation

KSBL OrientationAs a facilitator for the Personality Dimensions® Intro Workshop during the Graduate Orientation in 2023 at KSBL. I was excited to embark on a journey to unravel the mysteries of personalities and guide participants through the transformative process of self-discovery.

Having conducted numerous workshops with various corporate clients and teams, I was curious to see how the incoming Graduate Cohort would take to the session.

The workshop aimed to provide graduate students with valuable insights into their own personalities and equip them with tools to navigate the diverse personalities they would encounter in their academic and professional endeavours.

The workshop commenced with an introduction to the Personality Dimensions® model, laying the groundwork for an engaging exploration of individual traits and preferences. Participants were encouraged to embrace the process and actively participate in various activities designed to illuminate the intricacies of their personalities. The overarching goal was to empower them with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of interpersonal relationships.

KSBL OrientationOne participant succinctly captured the essence of the workshop, stating, “My biggest takeaway was learning about my personality, and different personality types, learning how to deal with other personality types in a variety of situations.” This sentiment echoed the fundamental objective of the workshop – to provide participants with practical tools for understanding themselves and others, ultimately fostering effective communication and collaboration.

The dynamic nature of the workshop allowed for open dialogue and sharing of experiences among participants. One participant sparked a thought-provoking discussion by expressing, “It would be interesting to see how team members of different departments like finance score on the personality assessments, do they have a certain type of personality type or not.” This insightful comment highlighted the potential for applying the Personality Dimensions® model beyond individual self-awareness to enhance teamwork and cooperation across diverse professional domains.

Another participant underscored the broader impact of the workshop, stating, “It was a great tool for the Orientation, as they got to meet other students, intermingle and learn about each other’s strengths and personality types.” This acknowledgement affirmed the workshop’s role not only in fostering self-awareness but also in creating a sense of community among the graduate students. The workshop became a platform for students to connect, share experiences, and appreciate the diversity of strengths and personalities within their cohort.

Navigating through the various dimensions – Inquiring Green, Organized Gold, Resourceful Orange, and Authentic Blue – participants discovered the unique strengths each personality type brought to the table. As a facilitator, witnessing these revelations was immensely gratifying.

The participants engaged in discussions that transcended mere categorization, delving into the practical application of this newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios.

KSBL OrientationEngaged in their group tasks, I was delighted to observe the distinct responses of each personality colour within the group setting. The Resourceful Orange members swiftly completed the activity, showcasing their efficiency. The Organized Gold, despite forming a smaller group for an initial task, approached the activity methodically and thoughtfully. The Inquiring Green participants engaged in debates and pondered over each point with careful reflection. On the other hand, the Authentic Blue individuals chose a more intimate approach by sitting in a circle on the floor, ensuring that every member’s voice was heard. It didn’t take long to witness the formation of friendships and bonds among them.

From a facilitator’s perspective, the workshop was a success in fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. It was evident that the participants left with not only a deeper understanding of themselves, but also an appreciation for the diversity of personalities within their academic community. As the facilitator, I felt a sense of accomplishment in guiding these graduate students through a transformative journey, equipping them with valuable tools for personal and collective growth throughout their academic pursuits. The Personality Dimensions® Intro Workshop had not only unveiled individual personalities but also laid the foundation for a more connected and empathetic graduate community.

  1. This was a very interesting read as I am a Personality dimensions Trainer level 1. I have delivered many engaging and interactive workshops and the ‘Ah ha’ moments when the participants agree with the colors that they were born with and why they behave in a certain way is so exciting and energizing for the facilitator!

    Good job Ali Asghar!

  2. What seemed like an ice breaker during the orientation visits, turned out to be a very insightful and self actualisation activity, getting all to dive into self reflection and realising the strengths and challenges. All the while, Mr Ali Dossa kept the large audience engaged into exercising the mental faculties. A really fruitful experience, especially for people managers and personal growth.
