A prominent international financial services corporation sought to strengthen interdepartmental connections and the sales and marketing team’s customer interaction. Management recognized that improving the team’s understanding of different personalities can lead to better working relationships. At the same time, colleagues can build lasting customer relationships through more personalized interactions. To optimize team performance and elevate customer satisfaction, the company sought to provide a training workshop for teams on recognizing personality.
Understanding individual personalities is crucial in any customer-facing business, as this helps build relationships, and good relationships are often the key to success. Through self-reflection and appreciation of others, employees are better able to build deeper relationships with colleagues and customers.
To cultivate stronger relationships through enhanced self-awareness and an appreciation of varied personalities, the company engaged in our Personality Dimensions® workshop. During the half-day activities, we introduced the participants to the four core dimensions of Personality Dimensions®: Inquiring Green, Organized Gold, Authentic Blue, and Resourceful Orange.
Through online assessments conducted before the workshop, each employee gained insight into their core personality. In different discussions and interactive activities, they recognized how these personality tendencies shape their preferred ways of communicating and working together. This helps employees build understanding and empathy when working together internally and externally.
The workshop concluded by tying personal character traits back to the core values of the company — showcasing how personality complements the company’s values when authentically embraced.
Overall, the workshop unlocked employees’ potential to enhance teamwork and lasting customer relationships by understanding different personality traits. By cultivating an appreciation for the talents and perspectives of diverse personalities, the company strengthens relationships internally and with clients as a foundation for continued success.
Feedback from the workshop reflected its success in achieving meaningful results for employees and the organization as a whole. Through discussions, activities, and self-reflection, participants had the opportunity to understand their own personality traits, while also gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of the different personality traits among their colleagues. This increase in self-awareness and interpersonal skills enables sales and marketing teams to better collaborate with internal colleagues and build stronger connections with customers.
This cooperation with this company demonstrated that understanding different personality traits and learning to appreciate and respect each other can help employees build good relationships with colleagues and customers, and improve performance. Recently, we had the privilege of designing and delivering a two-day leadership program tailored for a venerable social service organization that has been serving communities for over a century. With the advent of a dynamic new CEO at the helm, significant changes have been made to the leadership team, including the introduction of fresh faces and the replacement of long-standing members. The CEO has successfully assembled a competent team and sought our expertise to facilitate a program aimed at fostering team cohesion. The objective was to help the leadership team members familiarize themselves with one another and gain a clear understanding of their individual contributions, strengths, and areas for development within the team context. This program was crafted to ensure that each leader could effectively integrate and align their skills with the organization’s longstanding mission and new strategic directions.
The training program was meticulously developed by integrating Carl Jung’s personality theory, utilizing Personality Dimensions®. This was complemented by Patrick Lencioni’s framework on the Six Types of Working Genius. The fundamental premise of the program was that a deeper understanding of one’s own personality traits and those of teammates enhances the team’s ability to effectively leverage each member’s unique talents.
To ensure a dynamic and engaging learning experience, the workshop featured a series of interactive exercises designed to validate and explore participants’ personality styles. These activities not only facilitated a greater understanding of individual and team dynamics but were also interspersed with targeted team-building tasks. Each session concluded with robust debriefs, allowing for reflection and discussion on the insights gained. This structured approach significantly improved communication across the leadership team, fostering a more cohesive and collaborative environment.
The workshop provided significant value to leadership teams offering profound insights into individual personality traits. This knowledge enabled each team member to capitalize on their inherent strengths and commit to ongoing personal and professional development. By gaining a deeper understanding of the varied communication styles within the team, participants improved their problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Furthermore, each participant began to develop a tailored action plan to effectively apply their new insights, paving the way for substantial contributions to the organization’s growth.
To ensure the durability of these gains and to reinforce the learning, we are planning to conduct a follow-up virtual session. This session, lasting between two and three hours, will continue to support and enhance the workshop’s teachings, securing lasting benefits for the team and the organization as a whole.

Classifications of temperament varied widely, but all agreed that individuals possessed innate, biologically-based psychological inclinations. The following is a brief account of several of the key figures leading up to the development of Personality Dimensions®.

These activities enabled team members to understand each other better, improving communication within the leadership teams and between leaders and their direct reports. The Personality Dimensions® Leadership Report provides clear insights, and many have found them extremely helpful, particularly appreciating the reflection questions at the end.
